AFTER MUCH SUCCESS, JONATHAN SWIFT DECIDES NOT TO RETIRE JUST YET...

Seventeen year old, two time BITD Champion Jonathon Swift announced his team will run the entire 2006 BITD schedule—and with an all new Ford Ranger Class 7 car. Jonathon was driving his dad’s Ranger in the desert before he had a drivers license. He won his first desert race at 15 in BITD Class 3. That was in 2004. In 2005, Jonathon won the Class 7 Championship and had just turned 17. By the end if the 2006 racing season, Swift will be 18; but says he has no plans for retirement. Jonathons father is John Swift—several time SCORE and BITD winner—and John is the son of Ray Swift who swallowed his share of dust in desert racing in the late 1960s. The Swifts are members of the Rough Riders Off-Road Racing team and are sponsored by BF Goodrich, American Wheels and Southland Sod. Jonathon Swift’s codriver for the 2006 season will once again be 42 year old Jan Verschoor.
